Sunbathe, swim, snorkel, dive, surf, windsurfing or cycling are just some of the of fabulous activities to enjoy along the Perth coastline, and with plenty of casual dining choices with stunning ocean views, you’ll soon understand why locals flock to the ocean on warm, sunny days. Let us help you explore the Sunset Coast from Fremantle to Two Rocks; explore our premier coastal tourist destinations, Scarborough, Cottesloe, Hillarys and Mindarie, all less than an hour from the Perth CBD.

Just 20 minutes from Perth, Scarborough Beach is arguably Perth’s most popular beach thanks to its breathtaking scenery, crystal clear water and world class facilities. The Sunset Coast sheltered coastline is also home to Mettams Pool, North Beach and Watermans Bay which are all ideal for swimming and snorkeling for people of all ages. But if it’s surf you’re after, neighbouring Trigg Beach has Perth’s most consistent surf break, lessons and board hire are available from local surf schools and surf shops and Scarborough and Trigg are both kite surfing permitted beaches. The coast line and its beaches can also be explored by bike or foot, thanks to the easily accessible pathways and pedestrian access.

Scarborough Beach is a vibrant and idyllic destination that epitomises Western Australia’s famous beach culture. The vast expanse of white sand beaches and crystal clear water are just the beginning. Visitors can relax on Sunset Hill, indulge in beach activities, view art installations or people watch from one of Scarborough’s many cafes and restaurants. It now features pedestrian promenades, a huge children’s playground, art projects, variety of skate bowls, climbing wall and a half-court basketball area. Add to this, the world-class Scarborough Beach Pool overlooking the Indian Ocean. The only beachside pool in WA and geothermally heated so it can be enjoyed all year round.

Further north, the Hillarys Boat Harbour is a wonderful day trip destination. It’s a maze of restaurants, bars and cafes, of surf, jewellery and clothing stores. Visit the Aquarium of Western Australia, ferry over to Rottnest Island or take a jetski ride. The Harbour is a gateway to the Marmion Marine Park and there are several places where you can dive or take a fishing charter. There is a calm and safe beach complete with a playground so it’s great place if you have young children, plus plenty of picnic space and barbecues to use for BYO picnics.

The Mindarie Marina is a stunning waterside destination. With the crystal waters of the marina, stunning sunsets and a laid-back Mediterranean feel, it’s the perfect destination for waterfront dining, live entertainment and family fun. You can also head out for a day fishing from Mindarie Marine.

The Sunset Coast Map extends as far north as Two Rocks which incorporates Yanchep Lagoon and Yanchep National Park, both must-do attractions to visit and experience.
