Bodhi’s Bakehouse
Bodhi’s Bakehouse was the original pioneer of ultra-healthy, traditionally hand -crafted baked goods in WA. Our bread has been produced in Fremantle since 1981 when members of Fremantle’s Sannyasin community established the bakery to promote healthy living based on fresh wholegrain breads.
In 1986 the business was purchased by third generation baker John Noonan who continued the health-conscious focus. Reviving ancient bread-making practices including the use of specialist wheat varieties and other grains, incorporating sprouted grains, and developing new recipes to cater for vegans and wheat or gluten-intolerances, and of course, those simply looking for healthy alternatives.
These traditions are continued today with a range of more than 40 loaves, including Sour Dough, Rye/Wupper, Spelt and Barley breads, organic breads, bread-mixes and flours, gluten-free cookies, breadcrumbs, rolls, and even pizza bases. All developed around the concept of positive health outcomes and good gut health.
Our breads are all low in fat, salt and sugar, and free of artificial additives. All ingredients are as fresh and natural as possible.
Bodhi’s is predominantly a wholesale bakery, and our products are widely available at major supermarkets, independent grocers, and health food shops across the Perth metropolitan area, and regional centres from Broome to Albany. Our new hole in the wall café at 11 Ellen St Fremantle offers Bodhi’s fans an opportunity to buy our products direct from the bakery and if they are lucky take a peek at our operations
