Perth sensation Birds of Tokyo is set to rock Wanneroo Showgrounds as the headline act for this year’s City of Wanneroo Presents Concert. Having recently won a fourth APRA award for Best Rock Work, alongside multiple ARIA gongs and a suite of platinum plaques, Birds of Tokyo is one of Australia’s top contemporary rock bands. Dark, dystopian, heavy synth-rock sounds blended seamlessly to create a strong setlist of signature anthems is what fans can expect when Birds of Tokyo takes to the stage on 4 November. The band will get crowds rocking out to tunes from latest album Brace, as well as
smash hits Lanterns and I’d Go with You Anywhere. According to Birds of Tokyo, Brace was created to be played live, with opening lines of the first track inviting listeners to ‘come take a seat, enjoy the show’. “The setlist (for the show) is pretty varied. Songs right from the start of our career up to the latest stuff. I love the fact that our crowds seem to dig the variety in the show,” said Birds of Tokyo keyboardist Glenn Sarangapany. Glenn added that his favourite song to play from the new album is Mercy Arms. “There’s a bit of a synth solo at the start – which is great fun – and ends with some brutal (Ian) Kenny vocals which I always love hearing.” The complete support line-up for Wanneroo Presents will be announced later this month. Make sure you like the City’s Facebook page to keep up to date with event announcements including food vendors, support acts and ticketing reminders. Tickets are FREE but essential and will be available exclusively to City of Wanneroo residents from 9am Monday 2 October. Any remaining tickets will open to the general public at 9am Monday 16 October.
