Tim Burns – The Kinetic Moments

17/10/2026 - 28/02/2027

Discover the work of celebrated WA-born artist Tim Burns in The Kinetic Moments, a major exhibition spanning six decades of his career. Born in Cunderdin in 1947, Burns has become one of Australia’s leading conceptual artists, known for his work across performance, video, experimental filmmaking and painting.

Featuring more than 35 works from major Australian public and private collections, the exhibition brings together paintings, works on paper, artist’s books, films, video works and archival material. Visitors can see everything from rarely seen performance documentation dating back to the 1970s to paintings completed as recently as 2025.

At the centre of the exhibition is Resumé 73-77, the first Burns work acquired for the State Art Collection in 1980, which is being presented in full for the first time. The exhibition is also accompanied by the first published book dedicated to Burns’s career, featuring new writing from curator Aimee Dodds and Dr Edward Colless.
