The West Australian Pulse 2025
03/05/2025 - 31/08/2025Now in its 33rd year, The West Australian Pulse 2025 shines a spotlight on the creative energy and ideas of WA’s emerging young artists. Featuring 61 works by 2024 Year 12 Visual Arts graduates from 37 schools across the state, this annual showcase gives a compelling insight into the minds of young people as they navigate a complex and ever-changing world.
The selected works reflect a broad range of themes, from self-identity and cultural intersections to neurodiversity, mental health, environmental concerns, and the pressure to perform in academic and social spaces. Each piece invites viewers to engage with the personal, political, and emotional experiences that matter most to this generation.
Chosen by a judging panel including Emma Bitmead (AGWA Associate Curator of Historical Art and Pulse Curator), artist Amanda Bell, and Cassie Bussell (Principal Education Officer – Department of Education), the final collection showcases the highest calibre of artistic skill and thought. Pulse 2025 is more than an exhibition – it’s an inspiring and powerful reflection of youth perspective, resilience, and vision.
