The City of Swan proudly presents Stoked, an immersive spectacle at Railway Square, Midland Railway Workshops. Stoked is inspired by the Midland Rail Workshops, which were the heartbeat of the Midland community for over 80 years, and pays homage to the legacy of the workshops with a visionary interpretation of life in the yards. A quarter of a century since tools were put down for the final time, we’re saluting this epic era with Stoked – an interactive, immersive festival that pays homage to the legacy of the workshops with a visionary interpretation of life in the yards. Part contemporary nod, part artistic tribute, and with a bit of sensory candy for all ages, Stoked will bring Railway Square alive with an awe-inspiring line-up of eats, sights and sounds. History buffs will love journeying deep into the workshops to view magnificent machines on show with perfectly preserved engines from across the years lovingly showcased by the Machinery Preservation Society and the Vintage Car Club.
There will be plenty of chill nooks for those who just want to kick back and take in the atmosphere too. Your ears will be treated to tunes galore from the Midland Gate Main Stage, with vintage vibes from the Jessie Gordon quintet, chilled beats by local rising stars, The Hunting Birds and Junkadelic Brass Band bringing their big band sound to life with a vintage machinery percussion section. The young (and young at heart) can feel the wind through their hair on the Runaway Train ride and kids corner, or you can snap a vintage family photo in our photo booth. Plenty more action will be jam-packed into the day. A free shuttle bus will be running from Midland Trail Station and back all day, and there will be limited free parking on site.
