I am one of John Butler Trio’s biggest’s fan and this was the first time I was to hear them play. Whilst I enjoyed them play it wasn’t what I expected. I had watched them on YouTube so had expected more…Don’t get me wrong what they played was amazing but it was over too soon with little interaction between songs. A big contrast to Missy Higgins who took the audience on a journey with her stories in between and even The Waifs had a personal touch to them. It just felt like business with JBT. I thought 90 minutes was too short as most songs are quite long so not really a whole lot of songs were played. It may have even been less than that as they were running out of time. The two support acts were 1 hour and yes they were amazing but I would have expected the main act to be double that. I would have been happy for 30 minutes for support each and 2 and a half for the main act. My biggest disappointment was that they didnt play any songs together as they have done before (as per youtube) that’s what I had been waiting for all night and it didn’t happen. Despite that I would go see them again in a heart beat and put this show to an off-night.
