There is a great depth to this Israeli string Quartet’s musical heritage that lends authority to the masterworks they will perform on their national tour. In this program we hear Beethoven in perhaps the most ‘Haydnish’ of his quartets, op 18 no 6, matched perfectly with Dvorák’s Quartet no 13, full of Bohemian tunefulness. At the heart of this program lies Ross Edwards’ String Quartet no 3, Summer Dances, whose rhythms reflect the natural world of its composer’s native Australia, and give the Jerusalem Quartet a chance to share a New World sunniness amongst Old World classics.
