Elsie Seedling Potting Day w Coastcare, Friends of Freo & APACE
08/04/2017With our brewery based on the water’s edge we’ve always had a strong connection to the ocean. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Coastcare to help keep WA’s coastline pristine. Join us at Little Creatures on Saturday the 8th of April as we begin potting over 3000 native seedlings that will be planted across Fremantle beaches and bushland later in 2017. This unique social community event is open to everyone in the community and will be guided by experts from APACE Nursery with the aim of teaching all involved about local species and how to germinate them. There will be activities for kids and adults, a BBQ and a chance to try Elsie- our new WA Ale afterwards. All seedlings propagated on the day will be taken back to APACE Nursery until they have matured. Later in 2017 these seedlings will distributed amongst Friends of Freo (a collective of local Landcare and Coastcare Groups) and planted across numerous revegetation sites across Fremantle. These seedlings will provide important food sources and habitat for local fauna and also work towards increasing biodiversity and tree canopy cover in Freo. It’s a fun event with seriously positive outcomes. This event is primarily a social event for all of those volunteers who work hard to make Freo the great place it is, put it’s also any opportunity for Little Creatures to give something back to this great town.
