Danjoo – Interwoven Exhibition
15/02/2019 - 05/04/2019Launching the 2019 Midland Junction Arts Centre’s (MJAC) exhibition program, Danjoo -Interwoven is a curated exhibition celebrating local Aboriginal culture, country, language and visual arts practice in Western Australia. The artworks presented will explore a range of mediums including painting, print, photography, weaving and video by artists Julie Dowling, Janine McAulley Bott, Norma MacDonald, Lance Chadd, Lea Taylor, Linda James, Deborah Bonar, Desmond Woodley, Jo Ugle, Naomi Grant, Daniel Roe, Mandy White, Lewis Nannup, Boyden Woods, Jeanette Garlett, Bradley Kickett, Rohin Kickett and Esther McDowell. The public program will include printmaking, photography, weaving and professional development led by Aboriginal artists as well as a series of community and school weaving workshops and a musical performance by celebrated musicians Gina Williams and Guy Ghouse. The exhibition will be complimented by an eleven-week residency for emerging artist Rohin Kickett. Curated by Wadandi/Minang/Koreng Bibbulmun artist Lea Taylor and Greg Sikich.
