Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

21/11/2017 - 25/11/2017

The biggest round the world yacht race is returning to Fremantle! Welcome the Clipper Race crew and twelve 70-foot ocean racing yachts as they arrive at the Fremantle Sailing Club following their 4,754 nautical mile race across the notoriously tough Southern Ocean. Track the progress of the fleet online at clipperroundtheworld.com/raceviewer. Returning to Fremantle for the first time since 2005, the stopover in November will be the first taste of Australia for the twelve Clipper Race teams, who started their epic adventure in Liverpool, UK, on August 20. A highlight of the Clipper Race’s visit to Fremantle will be the open boat tours; a chance for the public to step on board one of the stripped out ocean racing yachts and hear first hand what it takes to race in the ultimate ocean adventure. The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is raced by people like you. More than 700 people from all walks of life and representing 41 different nationalities are taking part in the 40,000 nautical mile, eleven month race around the globe. Among the crew will be local man Trevor Taylor, who is completing the entire circumnavigation on board PSP Logistics. The Clipper Race yachts will start arriving in Fremantle from November 21 and will be berthed at the beautiful Fremantle Sailing Club until the race to Sydney begins on Saturday 2 December. Race Start will be an occasion not to be missed, and will be a great opportunity to see the yachts as they race close to the shore before heading out, once again, to the open sea. For more details, please see the Clipper Race website clipperroundtheworld.com and see you in November!
