Celebrate Australia Day with family and friends at the Town of Bassendean’s 14th annual Australia Day Celebrations & Fireworks. From 5-9pm at Ashfield Reserve in Ashfield, enjoy a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere accompanied by great live music, thrilling show rides, spectacular fireworks and more. On-stage be entertained by WA’s premier Latin Ensemble Orquesta Yambeque, 50’s-style rockers Bang Bang Betty & the H-Bombs, and Bassendean’s own samba stars – the Bassonovas. As well, meet Australia Day Ambassador Colleen Hayward, sharing her story and inspiring us by talking about what it means to be an Australia Day Ambassador. The event kicks off from 5pm and continues through till 9pm, with everyone’s eyes turning to the sky at 8pm for the fireworks finale. Bring your Bluetooth speakers and tune into 98five Sonshine FM for the live simulcast soundtrack created especially for the event. You can pack a picnic, or purchase food and drinks from the many food and drink stalls on site. Car Parking is strictly limited. A $10 fee per car applies in the designated parking area at Cyril Jackson Senior Campus – Enter via Chapman St. Payment is CASH ONLY. Follow directional signs from Guildford Road. We encourage you to TravelSmart – walk, ride, catch a bus or train, or car pool to the event. If you are travelling by bus or train, plan your trip to and from the event through Transperth’s Journey Planner. Cyclists can park their bikes in the free, secure on-site bike parking at each end of the Reserve – provided by BikeValet.
