WA Opera presents The Merry Widow at His Majesty’s Theatre, 7.30pm on 15, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 July. The Merry Widow was the runaway hit of its period. The beauty of the music, the glamour of the setting, and the effortless charm all combine to seduce the audience, just as the characters on stage seduce each other. This is a comedy of manners, with money as its secret motivating force. The Merry Widow deals with couples in love, misunderstandings, evasive declarations, and finally a happy ending. Art deco glamour, silky ballroom gowns and dapper gents complete this charming operetta. This brand new production, directed by Graeme Murphy, will open its Australian run in Perth.
