What’s On This Australia Day 2026 Long Weekend in Perth

The Australia Day long weekend is here, and Perth’s got plenty happening from Friday 23rd January through to Monday 26th January 2026. Whether you’re catching the fireworks, hitting up a show, or just soaking up the summer sun, here’s everything you need to know.
Hancock Prospecting Australia Day at Langley Park
When: Monday 26 January 2026, 3pm-9:30pm
Where: Langley Park, Riverside Drive, Perth
Cost: Free entry (costs apply for amusement rides, games and food vendors)
The big one. Langley Park transforms into a massive family zone with over a kilometre of activities, entertainment, and Perth’s best spot to watch the drone and fireworks display. From 3pm, you’ll find freestyle motocross and BMX stunt shows, carnival rides, a skydive display, St John First Aid Awareness, the iNSTRUCKTA! Safety Truck, and loads more.
New for 2026 is the Multicultural Activation Zone with cultural performances, hands-on experiences, and community stalls. The Reflect Respect Celebrate Film Dome returns too, screening educational films including Koora, Koora: A Long Long Time Ago, The Story of Us, and Australian Values on rotation throughout the afternoon.
The evening wraps up with a spectacular 30-minute drone and fireworks display from 8:30pm over the Swan River. The show combines drone formations with fireworks, all synced to a soundtrack broadcast on FM 89.3 (within 5km radius of Langley Park). For the best experience, the City of Perth recommends viewing from Langley Park – the drone element isn’t designed to be viewed from South Perth or Kings Park.
There’s a BYO Picnic Zone operating from 6:30pm-9pm between Langley Park and the Swan River foreshore (between Victoria Avenue and Plain Street). Adults 18+ can bring a maximum of one six-pack of beer/mixed drinks or one bottle of wine per person. Free sunscreen available at First Aid Posts, and food trucks will be on-site.
Smoking Ceremony and Community Breakfast
When: Monday 26 January 2026, 8am-10am
Where: Victoria Gardens, 10 Royal Street, East Perth
Cost: Small donation to charity
Start Australia Day with a traditional cultural Smoking Ceremony led by Whadjuk Noongar artists and performers, promoting healing and cleansing as a mark of respect to the land and elders past, present, and future. The Rotary Club of Heirisson will be serving BBQ breakfast for a small charity donation, with giveaways and entertainment throughout the morning.
