On 21 January, indie-rock supergroup Hard Quartet – made up of veteran music legends Jim White (form the Dirty Three), Stephen Malkmus, Matt Sweeney and Emmett Kelly – hang out, share vocals and riff together for a night of rock ‘n’ roll to be remembered. Forming in 2023, they recorded a 15-song album in NYC and Malibu California without telling anyone except their families and friends – ideal times spent in idyllic locales.

Releasing their eponymous album in October 2024, all four band members write, sing, play musical instruments and produce The Hard Quartet’s songs. it’s a full-on rocking band. The band is the natural result of decades of friendship and playing music in each other’s presence.
