Lightning Claw is the largest known carnivorous theropod in Australia, named after its massive front claws. Fossils were first discovered by opal miners in Lightning Ridge, NSW, in 2005, and included a 25cm claw and parts of the arm, rib, hip and leg. The discovery shifted theories about Aussie dinosaurs, revealing they likely originated here, not from Africa or South America as once believed.
